Bali

Bali is one of the most popular surfing destinations in the world and offers ideal conditions for every surfing level and at any time of year. The island is divided into two main regions: the west coast and the east coast.

Top Surfspots

West coast: The west coast of Bali stretches from Kota via Canggu to Uluwatu and offers optimal surfing conditions, especially during the dry season from April to October. During this time, the waves are powerful and larger swells reach the coast, creating ideal conditions for advanced and experienced surfers.

East coast: During the rainy season from November to March, the east coast is the better choice as it is protected from the strong winds of the dry season and therefore also offers suitable waves for beginners, e.g. in areas such as Sanur and Nusa Dua.

Best time for surfing?

East coast:The dry season in Bali is the peak tourist season and attracts surfers from all over the world every year. During these months, the western surf spots such as Kita, Canggu, Padang Padang, and Uluwatu are particularly popular. The constant offshore winds on the west coast create clean, powerful waves in perfect shape. Wave heights can increase during this time, making many well-known surf spots like Uluwatu and Padang Padang develop into challenging surf conditions. Beginners should opt for more sheltered spots like Kita Beach during these months, where the waves tend to be calmer.

Rainy season (November to March): The rainy season brings a shift in the winds, making the east coast of Bali the best surf region. During this time, areas like Sanur, Nusa Dua, and Keramas become very popular. The waves on the east coast are more consistent and often gentler, making the conditions ideal for both beginners and advanced surfers. The rainy season is less touristy, so the spots are less crowded, but occasional rain showers and higher humidity are common during these months.

The water temperature in Bali remains consistently warm throughout the year, ranging from 27 to 29°C. You can definitely leave your wetsuit at home! Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or professional, every surfer will find the perfect wave in Bali.
